History
Zodoaman Wehye walked into Pastor Brothers' office eight years ago and said,"Preacher, can we take food to New York City and give it away?" Little did he or Dr. Brothers realize all that God would do with a program later named Operation: Matthew 25. Pastor's response was,"Zo, we can't just take a truck to Park Avenue and start handing out food." But, God was speaking to his heart through this young man. Any who know Pastor Brothers know of his burden for "meaningful ministry". Ministry that does something - that actually touches a life and makes a difference!
Soon, churches were contacted, a system of procurement developed, and as they say, "the rest is history". Today, Freedom Village trucks are on the road literally seven days a week, picking up and delivering food to a network of churches and ministries numbering in the dozens.
Opportunity
Our young people are now given the wonderful opportunity to minister and labor in this needed field. Last year, thousands were fed and over $15 million dollars in "in-kind" donations of food, toys, clothing, and medical supplies were given away through this fabulous outreach to 5 cities through out the state of New York, begun by one boy's burden.
Testimonies
The food distribution is one of the most amazing outreaches of Freedom Village. Continuously making a difference in communities and individual lives, as the Lord not only teaches a once troubled, seflish, selfcentered young person how to care and give, in addition allows the new Christian to grow in their faith, boldness, ability to share the hope we have through Christ. By distributing food it also gives us the chance to share what God has done in my life and share what he can do in others lives as well.
To be able to pray and comfort those our communities who are struggling or to be able to rejoice with those who get the victory of a situation in their life and be a small part in leading a lost and lonely person to the saving grace of Jesus Christ and that God has a plan for their life is a wonderful privilege.
